Dr. Mariana Alves

Family Medicine Specialist

Dr. Mariana Alves is a Family Medicine Specialist at HealthPlus with 10 years of postgraduate medical experience, including five years practising as a specialist. She provides comprehensive, patient-centred primary healthcare for patients of all ages, with expertise in acute and chronic disease management, preventive medicine, women’s health, child health, lifestyle medicine, and health education. She has a particular interest in managing hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidaemia, menopause and perimenopause, and mental health conditions within primary care.

Dr. Mariana earned her Master’s Degree in Medicine from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and completed her specialisation in General and Family Medicine in Portugal. She also completed a Specialisation Course in Geriatrics at the University of Porto and is currently enrolled in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Diploma programme at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Dr. Mariana has experience supervising medical students and Family Medicine residents during their clinical training. She has also presented and published several scientific works, including award-winning research presentations. She is a member of the Portuguese Medical Association, the Portuguese Association of General and Family Medicine, the American Society of Menopause, and the Royal College of General Practitioners International.

Before joining HealthPlus, Dr. Mariana worked as a Family Medicine Specialist at BSK Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She speaks English and Portuguese, with basic proficiency in Spanish and French.
